Rabbi Hazzan Shlomo Shuster Hazzan Toby Lou Haymen

Rabbi Hazzan Shlomo Shuster is our High Holiday Rabbi and has served congregations for 45 years. He studied at Yeshiva in Chicago, Baltimore and Israel, and is ordained Rabbi in Israel and Hazzan by The Cantors Assembly of America and JTS. He continues to serve the Chicagoland area in life cycle events, teaching and concerts. He holds degrees in Education, Music and recently received a Doctorate in Jewish Music from the Jewish Theological Seminary in New York. He is member of the Cantors Assembly, having served on the Executive Council, and as past President of the Midwest Region for 14 consecutive years. He is also the founding President of the Chicago Association of Cantors and was elected Honorary Fellow of the Cantors Institute of the Jewish Theological Seminary. He continues to enjoy the distinction of being known as a Master Hazzan and a Rabbi who cares deeply about people.


Hazzan Toby Lou Hayman Hazzan Toby Lou Hayman is the year-round Spiritual Leader of Central Synagogue. She conducts Shabbat, holiday and High Holiday services and teaches adults and B'nai Mitzvah students. She is a graduate of the Jewish Theological Seminary of America and The University of Chicago. Hazzan Hayman has the distinction of being the first woman Hazzan to serve a Midwest Conservative congregation. She is serving as Vice-President of the Chicago Association of Cantors, and she is a past President of the Midwest Region of the Cantors Assembly. She is a graduate of the first cantorial cohort of the Institute for Jewish Spirituality and a participant in its Hevraya (Fellows) program. She has compled a certificate in Jewish Spiritual Direction under the auspices of the Yedidya Center.
